Man killed in stabbing at nail salon near Alma

PINE RIVER TWP. — A 48-year-old man was found dead from stab wounds at a nail salon north of Alma, police said.

The man had multiple stab wounds when Gratiot County Sheriff's Office deputies arrived shortly before 1 p.m. Wednesday, officials said in a statement.

A 30-year-old Alma man, whose name was not released, was taken into custody as "a person of interest" without incident, Gratiot County Sheriff Tom Clark said in a statement.

Deputies responded to the assault at LA Nails in the 7400 block of North Alger Road in Pine River Township.

Clark did not provide any details about what may have led to the incident but said there is no threat to the public.

The sheriff said the suspect's and victim's names will be released after an arraignment on charges happens in 65B District Court in Ithaca.
